Summary of the study carried out by Testfakta
Pork chops were cooked using various types of barbecues (horizontal and vertical) and the PAH content was measured in the resulting cooked chops.

The healthiest cooking was obtained with the vertical BBQs as you can see in above chart 22 folds less PAH was found compared to the gas barbecue;
9 times less than the traditional charcoal type and 7,5 times less than the spherical charcoal ones.
